Since this is the 42nd post here in my little gglob-experiment, it’s time for a tiny recapitulation. Or something.

At 12:21 today it was exactly six days since I fired my Meteos cartridge up for the first time. In the course of those days we’d been playing for 13 hours and 23 minutes, had the game turned on for 16 hours and 24 minutes, launched 85009 meteos and incinerated 42130. This is just a fraction of what numbers Meteos wants to keep track of for me. So; have japaneese games (and reviews of them) gone the way of sportscasts on TV - turned into nonsensical statistics overload?

It struck me when I started playing the Guild Wars how similar these kind of games are to “heaven” in the good old Nordic mythology/religion; Valhalla (”Hall of the slain”). There one fight all day and if you’re killed you wake up the next, fit as a fiddle, ready to fight some more. (The partying every evening on mead and roasted pork with Odin is missing, though…)

So; later today Valve is releasing it’s Source-enhanced version of Day of Defeat upon the world. It has been flagged as “Coming soon” since 5th of October 2004. Classic Valve. Hopefully.

The critics seems to think that the best reason to own a PSP is a puzzler called Lumines, and the second best reason to own a Nintendo DS is a puzzler called Meteos. This last one was released in Europe on friday, so no gglob-posts from me this weekend.

One of the best games throughout the time, in my eyes, is UFO: Enemy Unknown. This was perpetually living in the disk drive(s) of my Amiga. Some days ago the brains behind it, Julian Gollop and Nick Gollop, released a game for the GameBoy Advance called Rebelstar: Tactical Command that utilizes the same brilliant turn based tactical combat scheme as the golden oldie and has more or less the same setting. Only in the US. For now. This made me ask myself where to go for a dose of modernized UFO-experience untill they release it in Europe (, or atleast untill I decide to get hold of an import copy).

The plague in World of Warcraft sounds like rabies to me… Any doctors in the audience?

Since I didn’t get to post anything yesterday, I’ll take an easy way out today so that I’m sure I get at least one post. Here’s a collection of interresting links I’ve gotten from friends the last day or so. Enjoy.
I’ve been looking forward to 30th of September for a while. That’s the day when Advance Wars: Dual Strike finally is (officially) available to us europeans. This strategy game has received a massive 91 out of 100 at metacritic - the best score of any DS-game so far. Being an avid strategy gamer, this must be a good investment for my Nintendo-gadget… Then news reached me that two other big strategy titles are launched the 30th.

Just a tiny entry here to say that Rag Doll Kung Fu, the game I drooled on a while ago, has finally gotten a release date.
